A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello all,

I’m really unwell at the moment and am beginning to suspect MCS. Certain smells feel like they are going to kill me and I get intense nausea/vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, itching, pain etc It lasts a week or so at a time and feels like the smell is everywhere I go and binds to me.

Perfume is bad, also fluoride I believe and onions but many others also. Nobody actually believes me but I feel so unwell, the smells also seem to make me angry.

Does anyone suffer with this? In the UK it… read more

Yes but I was in a chemical environment at work in the 80’s. It messed up my nervous and respiratory systems so I can’t be around chemicals at all. Anything perfumed kills me. I get disoriented and spacey, sore throat, feel like I have the flu, I become irritated and bitchy it feels like someone’s hands are in my brain twisting it and I get a wierd migraine. The only thing you can do is avoid whatever sets you off. I can’t be around flowers, all my home products are unscented and I have to have someone clean my house. There are websites for you unscented products if you can’t find them locally. You might want to get allergy tested to. Things like mold can cause reactions.

I have this too.smells can effect my mouth and often i can taste smells. It is weird and not acknowledged by doctors. I had to have my son take down a car deodorizer when traveling with him because it was making my mouth weird and I felt sick!

@A MyFibroTeam Member... you mention sensitivity to fragrances and odors of cleaning products and I thought I'd share something I recently learned... to use plain (and inexpensive) baking soda in lieu of most cleansers 🤯

Yes I experience it too. It's common with central sensitivity disorder.

Yes I do, and I agree it is not nice. This started this year. I have been on different antibiotics for what they thought was deep Sinus Issue.
Mine tends to come and go. I call them flares. My sensitivity to scents has heightened immensley. Someone just in a room wearing a scented hand cream or deodorant can set it off. I am now using unscented, natural products including shampoos, conditioners, and I now buy a special toothpaste. That is natural, gluten and flouride free. Costs a little more but worth it.
