Taking Amitriptyline Long Term
I’ve recently begun taking amitriptyline and it definitely seems to help me out with sleep, some anxiety, And seems to calm down my pains. I just wondered, what’s it like taking long-term and is it safe to take for Years?
Donna, I take hyoscamine for esophageal spasms. It is a smooth muscle relaxer. I have discovered that it also helps my bladder and IBS symptoms. I take it on an “as needed” basis. It is usually prescribed to relax the digetive tract...
Yes, so very accurate. This truly is the way we have to survive. It's all a risk and a bunch of tradeoffs.
Nothing is safe that we take long term. It doesn't really matter, because the drugs we have to take to get through life we have to take them. If you want to be in pain in bed and have no life then you can stop taking them. I don't have to increase my dosage on most of my medications, but I will have to take them for life. I take the least amount that can still help. I wish I didn't have to, but until they find a cure, this is the price I have to pay. Good luck in your journey.
Amitriptyline does nothing for my IC
I was on amitryptaline for years. I took it a bedtime and it did help. You can't be out in the sun while you are on it. My skin got red and leathery. My pill bottle had a warning to stay out of the sun. I eventually had to go to a sleeping pill but it did help me first a long time
