Does Anyone Else Catch Every Infection That Comes Their Way?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Although it’s not new for me to catch every infection that comes knocking, this cold and flu season has been the worst. I’ve spent the last 12 weeks with colds, influenza, mystery viruses, and even sinus/ear infections, pneumonia, and pink eye! And I have serious concerns that if I were to catch coronavirus the doctors would only see a health conscious 36 year old because of the lack of information around fibromyalgia. My initial health problem was Lymes Disease that went incorrectly diagnosed… read more

I think you’re doctor is right Victoria. My hubby has had 3 viruses since November. He took a work contract where he is exposed to more people so that may be it too.
I, on the other hand, did not get sick at all during these last months but had a horrible virus in August/September that took at least 4 to 5 weeks to shake. I usually don’t go to the doctor for a virus but this one inflamed my glands badly causing so much pain I thought I should have a throat swab done to rule out strep throat. The doctor I saw said after doing the swab that it was a virus and probably EBV and it would pass. Interestingly, I had a dry cough, swollen glands, and was a bit feverish......

My doctor said that this year has been a bad year for viruses. My grandson caught so many at school this year...including pink eye, Influenza B, pnemonia. I noticed in your story that you had a very bad one after your child was born. All my life I’ve caught multiple viruses, and had lots of bronchitis episodes. Best thing to do is practice the washing of hands, sanitizing counters, staying away from sick people. Like many are learning today with the coronovirus. I wish I had done that years ago. Gentle hugs🤗

No, I rarely get colds or flu's. Which is why I remember the one time I got so sick I had to get antibiotics was in 2001. Whether that is luck or a good immune system I don't know but with age coupled with this pandemic, I'm wearing a mask and gloves for the first time ever.
