Do You See A Rheumatologist For Your Fibromyalgia Or Do You Use Your Primary Care Physician?

I currently see my primary care physician, but I am thinking that I should also see a rheumatologist. I just want to see what others have done

Wish I could see a rheumatologist more often. The one I saw originally was awesome. My PCP acts like I'm a big cry baby who just wants drugs. But I'm afraid another doctor might not treat my symptoms as well.
Can't win.

I see a rheumatologist. Around here, it's the only Dr. That will take fibro patients.

I have a wonderful PCP who has been my doctor for 28 years. We have tried everything. He helped me apply for disability 2 yrs ago and although they did not approve me because of his diagnosis the state made an appt for me to see a fibro specialist. I was approved almost immediately from this doctor's diagnosis. I have 4 children and 3 of them see a Rhuemy. They are wonderful doctors.

I use a rheumatologist. I have to see a new one because mine retired and I'm not looking forward to it.

Hi!
I do have a primary rheumatologist for fibromyalgia, since a close friend who suffers from Ankylosis recommended him.
I had to since my primary intern doctor mentioned Fibromyalgia is not my primary disease and something else is triggering it.
With this rheumatologist we were able to find out (till on testing periods tho) that it may be spondyloarthritis axial (asxPa).
With him we are trying the new medication for ankylosis diseases and in that family, which are the biological injections.
He is empathic and does know a lot.
Gave me good advices to do and handle more things for myself rather than for others, since I'll require more resilience for upcoming medical procedures.
