Can you please share your experience if you feel constant pain in the knees and hips. Can it be from Fibro?

I did'nt always have hip and knee pain and I've had FM since childhood, so I say Osteoarthritis is the probable cause. Alot of ppl with FM have some form of arthritis. It doesn't feel constant though, but it is daily, exercising the muscles around those areas helps.

Hi Maritza2, I have constant pain in both knees and L-hip - and elsewhere, but we don't need to go there. Had x-rays done and it shows degeneration - osteo. So cannot see any link to fibro for me.

I have constant hip pain, but it comes from injured obturator internus muscles, osteoarthritis in my sacroiliac joints and degenerative disc, bulged disc, pinched nerves, stenosis in my lumbar, etc. The end result is my thighs have pain shooting down the IT bands, and sciatica pain down the back of the legs. My knees give me fits and no one knows exactly why, there's nothing wrong with them, but they hurt all the time also. Most likely my fallen arches play a part in my knees hurting. Does fibro play a part in this? Probably not in the initial pain, but with fibro it can enhance our pain by exaggerating the amount of pain that we feel, because we have too much Substance P and not enough Substance H, too many Schwann cells, etc, etc. So although your knees and hips pain may not be caused by fibromyalgia, I think fibromyalgia definitely enhances any pain that we already have.

I was told fibromyalgia doesn't destroy your joints. Yes my knees & hips ache as well as my ankles. It all aches, my arms neck shoulders, my back, around my ribs, accross my chest, around my innards like my stomach and digestive system. I try not to let all that take away my being able to live.

Well I have osteoarthritis & rheumatoid arthritis which is why I had to have knee & hip replacement surgery on my rightside now my left sides has been hurting probably looking into replacement surgery on my rightside now. You probably need to talk to your dr about this. I'll be praying for you. No pain my replacement side at all.
