Does The Pain In Fibro Have To Widespread, Or Can It Be Limited To Specific Areas, Eg Back, Legs, Hands And Feet?
My daughter was diagnosed with fibro, after 4 years of tests, some 6 years ago. Pain was not the main symptom. She suffered from severe fatigue, vertigo, cognitive issues and paraesthesia (pins and needles) in her hands and feet.
Since diagnosis, she has developed many more symptoms, recurrent UTIs, a recurring rash over her cheeks and nose, recurring mouth and nose ulcers, the paraesthesia has spread to include her arms and legs ( mostly legs), incessant weight gain, despite poor appetite⦠read more
Fibromyalgia and lupus have similar symptoms, although lupus can cause a butterfly rash on the face. I would ask the doctor to run blood tests for lupus as well
Hello Margaret, I am sorry your daughter is experiencing this and at such a young age. Some Rheumatologists are certified to diagnose fibromyalgia. My rheumatologist told me that the pain points are what they use to diagnose a patient and the other symptoms that primary care physician will say are due to fibromyalgia are not the symptoms used to diagnose fibromyalgia. My primary care doctor has lumped a lot under what I call the fibromyalgia umbrella. And Iβm not sure anymore if these other symptoms are related to fibromyalgia. Itβs a process of deducing and understanding each symptom on its own. I am able to work through the fibromyalgia pain with movement and exercise that has been recommended by my rheumatologist. If you have not visited a rheumatologist already to get a second opinion it might be helpful to do so.
Hello Margaret! First, let me say that I'm sorry that your daughter was dealt this horrible hand in health! I have a ton of the same symptoms that she has and I personally think that if you feel that that particular facility isn't taking your daughters symptoms seriously, you should seek another opinion of someone that will. What she is going through is no small feat to deal with every single day. As far as the pains mainly in her legs.. mine are all over but mainly in my legs as well. Sometimes the pain shoots sporadically in different places all over my body at random, especially if someone touches me. My lower back hurts all the time but I thought it could be from something else. Hips get really sore and I also get the pins and needles, burning sensation in what feels like my veins and also sometimes it feels like my veins have small shards of glass flowing through them. So yes! I would say, that her symptoms need 2 be taken very serious! The right doctor will give her the right information and combination of meds that work for her. Me, myself... I'm considering going the alternative medicine route. Good luck to you both and please tell your daughter I said... KEEP FIGHTING!! No matter how hard it seems! The bad days make you appreciate the good days even more! πππππππ€π€π€π€
