Should I Go To A "fibromyalgia Specialist" To Get A Proper Diagnosis?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Detroit, MI

I believe that I have fibromyalgia after doing a ton of research of different possibilities and my symptoms correlate more with fibromyalgia than anything else I have found. I went online a few times and have found doctors that claim that they specialize in finding out whether or not someone has fibromyalgia. I have tried neurologists, pain specialists and a few other types of doctors. Should I try the specialist? Or would I just be further wasting my time?

More Rheumatologists are becoming certified in diagnosing fibromyalgia and can confirm your diagnosis. Regular primary care might be able to advise a specialist. My diagnosis was by a rheumatologist and they help me with pain management and encourage exercise.

Fibromyalgia is a default diagnosis. I doctors can't explain the cause of the pain they call it fibromyalgia.
