What Are Some Of The Jobs Available To Those Of Us Struggling From Symptoms Of Our Condition, Especially With Comorbidities?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Port Angeles, WA

The conditions that affect my ability to work include fibromyalgia, an unspecified connective tissue disorder (suspected hEDS), anxiety, and ADHD. I lost my dream job last year. I was able to live on savings for a bit of time while focusing on my art and medical treatment. As of last week I am unemployed with less than $50 in my bank account and not yet on disability. I need to find work ASAP, as I ran out of time to either improve my conditions or get on disability before re-entering the work… read more

I worked hard to pass the Real Estate test!! ( I took it 7 times with my Fibro Fog before passing it!!) I was able to buy an old v. small house. I fixed it up, (Mostly by myself), and sold it. I went on to buy 5 nicer homes to fix up and sell. I was able to do it when I felt good, and I had NO BOSS !!! I got "let go" from so many jobs!!!!! Everyone was very nice to me, but my Fog, anxiety, pain, no ability to stand, or walk, really ended so many jobs I got!! I usually ended up w/o a job after a week!!! This was in the early 90's and I couldn't get disability and had v. little income from my wealthy ex who ran off w his sexy secretary !!! I struggled mightily w no help from my 4 kids who were told I ran around on my husband, divorced him and took him to the cleaners!!!! (I didn't know they were told these lies, and suffered for many years wondering why they had nothing to do w me!!!!!) I was completely alone in a new place where I knew no one and had no family or friends. I survived!!!!!!!!!

At any rate, buying and selling art doesn't support me!!! No one seems to want to buy my collected art pieces !!! I LOVE THEM !!! Now I have social security, and 1/2 my dead husband's military retirement !! I'm surviving for now, but my income doesn't go up much and of course everything else does!!!!!!!!

Since I have pretty much figured out how to control my Fibro after so MANY miserable years, (approx, 75), I can't complain!!! Not being in extreme pain, having horrible anxiety, having bladder problems, bowel problems, stomach problems, back and neck problems, TMJ,, hearing loss, and Macular degeneration, etc. on top of 6 major cancer surgeries, I am forever grateful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hang in there guys, there is life beyond Fibro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!πŸ˜‰

PS I got carried away - SORRY!!! For me I needed to find something where I had no boss!!! That was #1 for me!!! I needed to be able to work only when I felt I could!!!
I now spend a lot of time online, and if I could find something to do online, I could possibly make money that way!!!!!!!GOOD LUCK you all!!!!!! I send my best along with blessings and prayers!!!!!!!!! I know it is SO HARD to make a living w Fibro!!!!!!!!!!! I'm told it takes 3 tries to get disability!!

I hope you find something soon. Cashiering is good. If you can find an outlet for selling your art that is perfect since you can work from home. Selling prints of your work though an online shop k no might work too.
