Has Anyone Had To See A Speech-language Pathologist? Neuro Wants Me To Work On Swallowing, As I Have Been Choking Quite A Bit.
I have to get a swallow study done before the SLP consult. I'm not really sure what to expect yet.
I went to the ENT and I'm being treated for "silent gerd". I'm on a digestive anti-acid type prescription, probiotics, and another (can't remember). If swallow continues, he is sending me to speech dr. I've also had problems with words for years "what's that thing on the ceiling?" to my kids. "The ceiling fan, Mom". duh.
I have the same issue. Every few months I go to the hospital and get a scope down my esophagus so it can be stretched. It helps with swallowing but I also have a dry mouth. Not producing enough saliva also makes it difficult to swallow
@A MyFibroTeam Member, I'm having the word finding problem too! The SLP is supposed to do a language-based cognitive assessment also.
Omg, I get this also! I all of a sudden have a difficult time forming words and can barely swallow and it’s so embarrassing. I tell my husband to step in and take over the conversation but when it happens when I’m on the phone I don’t know how to cover it up. My therapist says it’s anxiety which I suffer from. Is this really a fibro thing?
