What Are Your Top Tips For Dealing With Fibromyalgia In The Heat?
The winter seems the worst time for me for pain.
Extremes in temperature are not good for pain. If the weather's nice I'm fine.
I feel like I can predict the weather with my body.
Does anyone else feel that way?
I cannot tolerate the humidity and heat due to the fibro. I feel like I get hot flashes which is impossible because I am 78 and way past menopause. So I stay indoors.
Heat seems to help my pain although I take a lot of dizzy spells and I swell. I do everything at a much slower pace (not that I’m fast anyway!) wear the lightest loosest clothes possible and have a wet handkerchief round my neck. Bottle of water with you at all times. I can’t tolerate a sun hat it makes my head sweat and I feel worse!
I stay in as much as possible in an air conditioning house. if you need a fan on low near by. that helps also. I also use ice bag on the worse parts. All the other answers above mine have great answers also. A glass of ice water is so refreshing. It really feels good. 🧡
I stay inside with my AC on 68-69, if at all possible. Light clothing and stay hydrated, usually water or Gatorade. I try not to go out if I don’t have to, especially during the hottest part of the day. I’m in Texas, so it’s always really hot in the summer. I live in a lake town, so the humidity makes it worse.
