Hi Peter, Isn't getting old fun? In our golden years, what do we get? Poor health, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, aches and pains everywhere, maybe even diabetes or heart conditions and lets not forget arthritis! Just so many things...and then the crown jewel...Fibromyalgia! Well, your numbness is caused by a few things. Alot of what others have said is true and possible. Speaking as one with two fused and a crushed disc in my neck, all those nerves are attached guess where? Your neck! ( spine ) If you so much as sleep funny, you'll get a crick or not in your neck. But it goes all the way down your arm into your hand and fingers. Your arm is all messed up? Well, your head was also in a wrong position too! Only you were asleep and didn't know it! Alot of the time, I'll be watching a show and rubbing certain 'trigger points' on my neck. Oh, I'll feel sensations all down my arm into my hands. Oh, this spot here, ouch, will make my ring finger move....etc. and if I press here, I'll feel it over there! Just for fun, check out a spinal chart at a chiropractor 's office and see what organs etc go where. You'd be surprised how easily everything can be traced to and from your spine! Hope you're feeling better soon โค to you! Til Later........

Peter, People with fibromyalgia may have feelings of numbness and tingling in their hands, arms, feet, legs or sometimes in their face. These feelings can suggest other disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neuritis or even multiple sucrose

Hi Peter, Please read the answer I posted to Lady, as she experiences the numbness in the extremities as I do too. I fortunately have a chart that explains the different nerves going hither and thither and the symptoms produced, should there be a Malfunction. Also, I have an indepth breakdown of my MRI. It is not easy reading! And I'm left with alot of huh's??? Still, if you catch the drift, you're ahead of the game! Til Later....Be Well. Take Care. Thea2 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Lady, I pretty much already posted about this bothersome situation. I've had both arms lock up and go numb, my legs, the right side, then the left side....no rhyme or reason until the results of my MRI were explained to me. Here goes. I have two fused disc's and a crushed disc in my neck, two additional destroyed disc's in the upper and lower part of my back, ending with seven cracked and herniated disc's. All your nerves go to your spine between the disc's. When they are injured, damaged and unfixable that inturn causes symptoms throughout your body. Absolutely everything is run to and from your spine ( nervous system ). Your spine starts with C's and ends with T's. Between each vertebrae, nerves go to different parts of your body. If something is wrong in-between the vertebrae say 1C, that's between the Atlas and Axis at the top of your spine right under your skull. The areas controlled by nerves are; Blood supply to the head, pituitary gland, scalp, bones of the face, brain, inner and middle ear, sympathetic nervous system. Possible effects of a Malfunction; headaches, nervousness, insomnia, head colds, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, nervous breakdowns, amnesia, chronic tiredness and dizziness. And that is just one. There is the Neck region, Mid-back, Low-back and Pelvis. There are alot of nerves that if damaged cause alot of different symptoms to specific areas of the body. Which in turn produce other symptoms in your body, like your frozen shoulder. So the pain in your hand is coming from T1 which is at the end ofthe Neck Region and beginning of the Mid-Back. My chart lists the problems and pain etc for the hand locking up. This is just one vertebrae, and this goes all the way down your back! Nerve problems and symptoms. Although physio for the hand is useful, attention must be made to that specific vertebrae. So, in conclusion, get back to your exercises to avoid surgery. I hope this has been of some use to you. I know it sounds a little ' techy ' Good Luck! Til Later.....Be Well. Take Care. Thea2 ๐Ÿ˜Š
