Muscle Stiffness

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m having more and more problems with feeling stiff when I get up. I asked a nurse while I was in for a blood test, as I’ve found that a good time to get minor health questions asked and she said that I should talk to a GP to get other things ruled out, but I don’t want to go on any more pills, so I was wondering what people’s experience of it was like?

I feel like that Fiona I tend to get up and move every 30 min it’s like I can’t keep still but I just think it’s my body telling me , if you don’t get up you’ll seize up!.
I agree with the foam rolling it’s helped me massively and I owe it all to bloodmoon for suggesting it 😁 .
You can use other things tho like a tennis ball or even a rolling pin anything to massage those muscles when your sitting.
My pt said if I feel my glute (butt) muscles getting tight make a fist and sit on it and roll until you feel the point where it hurts and move about on it until it feels like a nice ache. It works!
I do my waist down and even the sides and bottom of my feet it’s so helpful and it actually feels warm where the blood is moving and the muscles are relaxing.
I spray magnesium spray on my legs and arms before bed .
I definitely wake up less stiff but everyone is different and it takes a while to master it but persevere and you’ll be more comfortable x

Sorry you’re having more stiffness than usual, Fiona.

My doc recommended I get up and move around at least every 45 minutes- called them exercise snacks. I have to set a timer or I’d never remember to do it. It has made some difference.

I also treat myself to a Float spa and or infrared sauna every now and again. And of course just soaking in the tub with some Epsom salt.

Wishing you luck. I hope you get some answers and find something that works for you soon!!! 💛🤗

I take magnesium malate, vitamin D3 with K2, complex B vitamins, collagen, calcium, flex seed, turmeric off and on in pill form but I use turmeric and ginger in spice/root pretty much daily, raw honey, apple cider vinegar, probiotics, Bromelain and (Boswellia - more for osteoarthritis.) I do stretches in bed before I get up as well…it helps. I’m never pain free but I’m not bad enough that I want to take pain medication.

So smart to get labs done to rule out anything else possibly. Some people develop food intolerances or vitamin deficiencies that can lead to pain so might as well be sure. Do you think you might be having increased morning stiffness due to change of seasons or has it been coming on for quite a while? I hope you feel better. When I had a young child to get to school in the mornings I remember it helped to get as much prepped the evening before (if I hadn't fallen asleep at her bedtime!).
