Can A Neurosurgeon Help With Fibromyalgia?
I don’t understand this doctor refferal
My rheumatologist takes care of my fibromyalgia as well
I have degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis in both my lumbar and cervical spine. My neurosurgeon operated on my lumbar spine in February. Neither he, nor my neurologist treats my fibromyalgia. My neurologist treats my seizures and migraines. My fibromyalgia diagnosis came from a rheumatologist, but my PCP treats it and my pain management doctor does, as well.
I see my neurologist for migraine treatments. Botox only thing that has helped. But because fibro affects so many things including brain connections they may want to see if something else is going on.
My rheumatologist does nothing for me , all she did was refer me to pain management, my fibromyalgia is far and beyond just aches pains .
When I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia I was not referred to a neurologist. But years later a GP asked that I see a neurologist to rule out Multiple Sclerosis. Some symptoms of fibromyalgia are similar to symptoms of MS. The neurologist can confirm is there are lesions near the brain stem area of the brain. This is the one way that doctors have to confirm MS diagnosis.
It’s different for everyone, I think it depends on what your doctor is looking for.
