Could be caused from falling,
Heavy lifting or even coughing. Right now, I’m dealing with it too. I didn’t sleep well & was coughing last night & woke up with it this morning.
Feel better!
I would try ice & heat
God bless!

Left or midline pain, localized, extremely sharp, intermittent, cannot take a deep breath because of the extreme pain. Can last for a few hours, few days or few weeks. Symptoms always improve. Rest, warm bath, ibuprofen helps. Had them since my late twenties. Couple of times a year.
