Today's message from them they spoke about the importance of dressing down for a doctor's appointment. Particularly if you have an invisible disease. If you go there with your hair styled and makeup and dress they are not going to take you seriously about your pain and not feeling well. They say you must dress down to look like you're not feeling well .they even suggested darkening the eyes with eyeshadow that is gray. I think this is really something because I know I used to dress up a little… read more

Thank you. Now that I’ve noticed it’s my default I’m much more cautious with my words.

Years of trying not to come off like a complainer does not serve one in the doctors office 😂🤦‍♀️

I think- doctors are as human as us and as himan as celebrities and whatever else.

I've met fab doctors.
I've met shit ones.
Nurses
Physician assistants
Nurse assistants
Hospital staff that rocks
Ones who don't.
And on and on and on

Many of us have had same situation.

They all have biases, politics, what they believe for their loved ones vs patients and vice versa, they could be willing to sell out and be greedy or sweet as pie, job pressures pending federal or state or whatever company just took over, contracts , mortgages and kids going to college and many many many many more fsctors.

The medical world is a hot mess. More especially for those like us with a rare health problem if not 1 but seems at least few more.

Finding a good doc is one of thee most hardest searches.
It changes and varies due to so many factors.

Here in USA BUT also world wide.

I don’t dress up, but I take care to look nice. I’ve been with the same doctor since 2002 so he knows me pretty well. We have a good working relationship with mutual respect and trust. I feel fortunate.

For me, it’s all about how I feel and what makes me feel good and comfortable in my body.

Depends on the person/doctor as to whether or not they are judging based on how we present.

That’s not something I can control and trying to only hurts me!

The main thing I have to worry about is my words. In the past, I have been terrible at downplaying things and not even know what I’m doing it. 🥴
The trappings of small talk in polite society. 🤦‍♀️

But hey, recognizing is the first step ☺️

Happy Saturday, folks 💛🥳

I have found the exact opposite. If I dress decently they tend to take me more seriously, even if I cry. I think its all in how you present yourself, but, I know for me, I got better treatment when I dressed nice and poured my heart out.
