Try Mo Maggie, a magnesium lotion that works well for temporary pain relief on me. I also use a TENS unit to confuse my nerves and get some relief. It has an auto-off at 20 minutes, so I can fall asleep with it (on a good night).

Have you checked your mattress? If mine’s sagging I get awful backache

Be careful with rubs or ointments and heating pads. Together, they can cause irritation or burns.

Most heating pads warn not to use together, but, on rare occasions, I've used Lowest heat setting and Absorbine, Jr. This helps me.
