Heat Intolerances

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I started having issues over the summer and had to live like a vampire. The instant the sun hit my face I started itching and would get a rash on my face. Now that it’s winter that’s not an issue. However, when I cook over the stove I have to tap out and have someone else take over because the same dang thing happens. I got over heated and my face itches. I’m going to bring it back up to my rheumy when I see him again. Does anyone else deal with this?

Hi all, thank you for your replies. I went to my dermatologist over the summer when it happened the first time and she said it’s not rosacea and gave me some cream to put on it to help the itching. I got tested for lupus and it came back neg, but the doc said it can take a while before lupus to show on blood work. I am also seronegative rheumatoid arthritis, so none of my blood work shows what my body is truly doing unfortunately. It’s sure a bummer to deal with. My rheumy had pulled me off plaquenil for 3 weeks and I ended up in a big flare up with painful nodules on my hands and some started on my toes;-( doc put me back on it.

I had the same heat intolerance type of problem. For me it turned out to be one of my prescriptions that was causing the problem. I sympathize bc it really puts a damper on activities doesn't it?!! I hope you find the answer soon!

Hey Dawn 🤗
I do, but I don’t really have anything helpful to share, just a little solidarity 😅

I get a rash on my right check, sometimes both cheeks, when I get hot or an in the sun for long and sometimes when exercising. I’m not sure what it is.

I also get one all over my arms, chest, abdomen if I get really hot. I’m pretty sure that one is polymorphous light eruption, but I’ve never had it confirmed.
