Ritalin And FibroFog

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I started taking a small dose of Ritalin for narcolepsy/ excessive daytime sleepiness and noticed it has helped a lot with that foggy headed feeling, concentrating, etc. Does anyone know if there have been any studies on this to help fibro patients. I was so bad I almost lost my job, but I feel like I can think clearer and remember things better.

There is a fibromyalgia doctor here in NC that has seen results using amphetamines (Ritalin, etc.) for fibromyalgia. They have to do it quietly he says, but they found that some patients respond well to it. http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cf...

The Ritalin has been being used since 2009 although it is very addictive, they find that it works well with brain fog and fatigue. Here is a link if you want to look into it.

Thank you everyone! I take the Ritalin so I don't lose my job by falling asleep in front of an executive at our company.or even worse, doze off while I am driving. I know it's addictive, but I don't foresee not needing for sleepiness, so the added effect is a plus. I already use a CPAP for sleep.

I took Adderall for add and noticed it helped with not only that, but my fatigue as well. The fibro fog... difrent from add wasn't helped quite as much. I still slurred words sentences and felt the need to just stop talking all together. I still misplaced everything all day long...That was the fog. But I remembered to pump my gas after paying for it. I remembered to turn off the stove. Made my appointments. Remembering things like that made me less stressed. And therefore fewer flares.
