Constant Low Grade Fever

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
White Lake, MI

I run a constant low grade fever. And, because of the fact my normal (basal) temperature is below 98.6* (mine is 97.4) it is difficult for me to get any doctor to take this seriously!!! It is really aggravating! I can tell, by the way I feel, whether or not my temp is up. I just "feel" feverish. Last time I had a problem with this, after 10 years undiagnosed, I was found to have a MRSA infection in my sinuses!!! Any ideas as to what I can do to have this addressed? I know I keep saying, if… read more

Like the new Kinsa thermometer that connects to the iPhone with an app. Super easy for a daily log. Highly recommend.

Thx for all the replies. I did mention to the P.A. who I saw yesterday that I believe it's a symptom of the Fibro. She didn't seem to think so. But, I've seen too many posts agreeing that it may be another symptom of Fibromyalgia. I'll just keep mentioning it and also believing that this is the thing that happens in my case. If I have any other symptoms, I will be sure to insist it be checked out!!! I guess we just have to keep "educating" the medical profession on this weird condition!!! ;-)

I have the same problem. I've been super sick with a 98.6 temp and they look at me like Its nothing because I have no "fever". I normally run 96.5. The thing is that an increase in body temperature is a symptom and 98.6 is the average, not where everyone's norm is. Let me know when you find out how to get a doctor to take you seriously in any manner. I seem to have a good one right now who listens (and after years of insisting on having certain tests done I've found multiple problems that could've been fixed years ago).

Bottom line- you know your body. You know it better than anyone else. Be persistent and make sure your doc understands what is YOUR norm and don't let them dismiss your concerns.

just remember that only 10 years ago doctors thought that this was NOT a disease and the did not treat as so! i am remember a show on Golden Girl when Dorthey was sick and the doctor did not know what to tell her what was wrong!
