Giving Birth Cause Of Fibromyalgia?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had fibromyalgia for 6 years now and started feeling fibro pain the day after giving birth to my second daughter. Back then I was diagnosed with a thyroid infection and they thought that's what was causing my pain....now I'm wondering if the trauma from going thru labor caused the fibro or if the hormone imbalance due to the thyroid infection caused it? Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi Nadine.... I believe my child birth experience brought on my fibro. I did have a c-section but soon as I came home from the hospital my body has been in battle with itself. I have been in constant pain and all kinds of co existing conditions for the last five years. I've always said since I have my child, my body haven't been the same. I know I've heard other women say having a child change your body but I didn't know fibro would be in the picture. I am still trying to get control over this syndrome.

Yes my fibromyalgia started in 2003 when I was pregnant with my son...After my 4th baby in 2012 I was really ill...The doctor told me it would be the trauma of childbirth making my body run down it would make the Fibromyalgia worse...I'm sure just being pregnant brought on my fibromyalgia in the first place xx

I also developed thyroid disease after having kids. It's been 30+ years now. It seems that thyroid disorder is a common ailment amoung us Fibros. I didn't have Fibro symptoms back then, though.
What's up with the thryoid factor, anyone know?
