I have just had a laparoscopic procedure for endometrial biopsy as well as confirmation of endometriosis , and D& C last Friday. I am still having pain and exhaustion in that area. The physician is to perform hysterectomy in the next few weeks. Four days out I still had a high pain level. He didn't understand and said it was not normal to continue to have this. Has anyone experienced this with simple surgery that it through you into a flare. Do you think the fibro flared and my goodness… read more

PURPLEBUNNY is absolutely correct our pain perception is was different than someone who doesn't have fibro. Don't stress to much about the surgery I had both the laparoscopy and hysterectomy for endo while I had FM . It was probably rougher than someone who doesn't have FM but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Best wishes for you to feel the best you can before surgery and a speedy recovery!!! Relax!!!!!! Keep your chin up!! Air Hugs

From the reading I have done, fibro can start after a flu like illness, after a trauma, or just out of the blue! Since the true cause of it has not been discovered, they are looking at any and all causes in research to try to narrow it down.
Even though I have had my appendix removed, I still frequently get appendix like pain, and know that it is the inguinal ligament on the my right side. One reason we have deep pelvic pain is that fibro affects the tendons and ligaments in our bodies. In the abdomen there are many tendons (tendons connect muscles to bone) and ligaments (ligaments connect muscle to muscle). One of the chief pain spots is the inguinal ligament, which is down in the same area as the appendix. However, there are inguinal ligaments on both sides. These hold the abdominal muscles together in the groin.

The FM brain shows that we respond to pain differently than normal people. The slightest tough can be painful as our nerves are overstimulated. Any type of surgical procedure will not only be more painful but can trigger a flare of the other symptoms that go along with FM. You need to have a good pain management team and a plan in order to have a smooth recovery. My uterus is prolapsing and my GYN said sby surgery can make FM worse. Make sure you have your pain meds readily available after surgery. Have doc write script so you can pick up before your surgery. Best wishes for a speedy recovery !

I have had many laparoscopy's done over the years and I was left with pain & discomfort for a while afterwards. I have had a hysterectomy too which was in 2012 and to this day I still have problems. My stomach is constantly bloated and the pain and discomfort can be quite unbearable. I had woman problems since I was 9 so the hysterectomy was a last resort for me cause they tried everything else. Hope this helps a wee bit x

Surgery makes Fm worse and linked to hysterectomy. Recovery time longer for Fm patients. Good luck an take care after your surgery.
