Over 12 million Americans suffer from Fibromyalgia this condition, most of which are women between the ages of 25- 60. In fact, women are ten times more likely to develop this condition than men.

That's because women are more likely to be sexually abused and traumatized as children and teenagers than are boys when they are children or teenagers. My Rheumatologist has said on more than one occasion that not everyone who has Fibromyalgia has PTSD but most people who have PTSD have some form of PTSDmyalgia.

Yes, its an average of 80 % to 20% women to men, there are also reports of children with fibro. re the muscle spasms- some things that can help is staying hydrated, stretching and not overdoing. The muscle become constricted, blood flow becomes less efficient and you can have those spasms. Being aware of your body makes a big difference . I am guilty of not paying attention and then I suffer!! I am getting better with that though. Hope this helps

I agree. I found out in 2003 at 52 but I believe some of the symtoms were there 1981. The doctors did test but they only found reynaud syndrome. At that time I don't think they believed in Fibro. Excuse spelling.
