Lightening Bolt Headaches

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

It's as if a lightening bolt hits the right side of my head and shatters my skull. I will grab that side of my head and hold it until it goes away. It doesn't last long, but when I have them I might have 4 a day then go a while without and then they come back with avengence.

I have suffered from migraines for many years. I drink coffee, eat protien, drink Sleepytime tea with 500mg Valerian. Stay out of any room that uses fluorescent lighting when they come on. It's lucky that I can feel one coming on is when I get nauseated and eyesight gets blurry. After suffering for many years, my new doctor prescribed a new med that works great for migraines.

Hmmm. Yes I do. I have had chronic migraines for over 40 years, but these headaches (also on the right side, near the temple) I describe as someone turning a screwdriver into the side of my head/skull and beating it with a hammer. If I push on the spot it is terribly painful. Then there are times when there's nothing. No tenderness or pain whatsoever. Have had MRI and brainscans (was told they didn't find anything--we got a good laugh out of that!). Gotta be some connection with FM, I think, now that I've heard from you. I need to do a better job of journaling.

I used to get migraine's when I was working. We are very allergic to flrorescent bulbs in lighting. I've n not had one since I retired.
