We have a support group in Hopewell , just south of Richmond . My friend and I have been doing this for 4 years. We finally have a more active group but I keep in touch with everyone the most I can online. Like Lisa _ Hahn said it is hard. And hard to not get disappointed when you do get a lot of no shows. We meet in a house that belongs to my church. We can leave anything we need there. I couldn't do this if it wasn't for my church supporting me, I also linked in with the Richmond group and the ladies there are wonderful support for me too. I wish I could help more.

Hello. I love in Suffolk virginia. There are not any support groups in this area that actually meet. I ran one here in the area for several years but due to our illness people would RSVP to attend but then the day gets here & you wake up in a major flare & find you cannot attend. Then there were the newly diagnosed people who would come a couple times, get enough information to help them understand their illness and then stop coming. I tried to keep it going as long as I could but after several months of going to the hospital & setting up for the meeting and no one would show up or maybe just one person would I shut it down. I also suffer from this and it was just too hard to do all the work for the meetings when there was such a lack of participation. I completely understand why people wouldn't come, this illness is what it is. Most people have turned to support groups online. Just be careful not to get involved with the ones that are negitive & just a complete whine session. There are several great ones on facebook. Also there is the National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA). If you join them for an extra fee you can receive their quarterly newsletter which comes in the mail. It's a great magazine. Hope this info helps. I know it's dissapointing that there are no support groups in this area but the online groups help.
