My doctor tried me on statins and fibrates and I refuse to take either as I was in agony with muscle leg pain. It also was the cause of horrible exhaustion, I couldn't function. It was awful and I don't need that side affect on top of fibro. My cholesterol is ok but yet they tell me my triglycerides are to high. However high triglycerides and diabetes go hand in hand. they are both a metabolic disease. I think the doctors are still pushing these drugs that are just poison in my opinion. There is no scientific evidence that statins actually prevents heart attacks. I think the best you can do for your health is eat healthy, keep exercising and try and keep your weight down. (easier said then done I know). Fibrates and Statins can also affect your brain in a negative way as well. Your body needs cholesterol to stay alive and it produces it through your liver.

Like I said before any statin drug will make your legs weak, it does to me, not quite to that extent but I have noticed over time that my legs are weak but after a bit of walking it does pass.

I take provastatin and have lesser issues, thank when I was on lovastatin. I was diagnosed with Myositis, ask your Dr to check you for this. Also look it up and see if you are experiencing some of the symptoms. Gentle hugs.
