Fibro Fog,

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Maysville, OK

I will make this short and to the point. Does having fibro fog increase our risks for Alzheimer's and or dementia? I feel this is a legitimate question I have asked myself many times. I wonder if the medical community is researching this!??

@A MyFibroTeam Member - The fog seems to stress us all out. Unfortunately more stress makes it worse. I've gotten to the point where I don't chase what I'm looking for around the caverns of my brain. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't.
Be gentle and understanding to yourself. It's something not in our control. Gentle hugs.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, There are tests that you can take that tells if your memory is okay. I have had 2 test 7 years apart. The last one was better than the first. Personally I don't believe Fibro Fog has anything to do with dementia. I find that in the afternoons is when I experience the fog the most. If I have important decisions to make I wait until mornings. Hope this helps in some way. Also get you a good doctor that believes in Fibro and a counselor to talk with. I have been going to counseling for 18 years. She is a blessing. Hugs to all!

I'm not sure if there is a relation between Fibromyalgia and Alzheimer and Dementia but I can see why you would have that question. The fibro fog associated with Fibromyalgia can sometimes be so extreme that you feel like you might be suffering from Alzheimer or Dementia. Having a memory test will help to ease your anxiety about that issue.
