Hypersensitivity To Mosquito Bites

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Are any of you fibro sufferers hypersensitive to mosquito bites, to the point that it feels you are being pricked with a needle? Especially with no seeums ? The are driving me crazy.

In Borneo my uncle uses Tiger Balm on bites (ouch). My sis-in-law swears by Avon Skin So Soft Lotion as a preventative measure. Calamine lotion also helps. We get loads here but I'm lucky I don't get bitten much (but then again I use tonnes of Tiger Balm so there might be something in that and the Vicks Vapour Rub theory?).

I've been reading a lot lately about various remedies that people are using to keep Mosquitos off of them ( without putting any pesticides or harmful stuff on you). One person wrote that she uses Vicks Vapor Rub , even on her children. She said just dap or rub a little here & there on your clothing & that the Mosquitos will not bite you. I haven't tried it yet but I am going to. Hope it works for others

I've tried some all natural methods and regular sprays too they seem to eat me up anyways. My family just stare at me covered in red lumps shaking their heads. Never thought fibro. Then all I do is itch like a cricket all night long because nothing stops the itch and discomfort.

Yes, I always feel when a mosquito bites. My dad thinks I am crazy when I complain. But then he never gets bit, they all come after me. And the no seeums are the worst, for just a tiny bug it hurts far more than it should. I also have that issue with fire ants, which I am allergic to. I get bit by one it hurts for a day sometimes longer. I've never thought of those before in relation to Fibro, But my skin is hypersensitive. I have days I would rather walk around naked than put on clothes. I actually have a couple of very light weight grandmother moomoo's for days like that
