Does Taking Advil And Other Over The Counter Medicines Help Deal With Fibro?
I have taken all over the counter meds and it doesn't even touch the pain. My doctor prescribed Cymbalta once. After experiencing chills, nausea, diarreah from taking the med. was worse then the fact I was able to get up out of bed and stand up without being in pain. I can't afford to feel like that and expect to work. I don't take anything, my doctor doesn't even disscuss it with me. Anyway, I thought Fibro was like overactive nerves and if this is the case, meds such as Advil wouldn't work but… read more
Please get another doctor. There are meds that will help. There are a lot of people out there that are scared of certain meds. If it gives you a better life then what is the problem?
You can do research on docs that are Fibro experts.
While I have tried Advil it has little effect on any of my pains. Sometimes when I have a bad headache I take it and Panadol together, usually twice the recommended dose, but that only has marginal effect. The other aches and pains no change. One specialist put me on Celabrax, when I went back tobsay not helping he washed his hands of me and sai my problem was muscular skeletal, not something he a rheumatologist could treat. I checked and if what I read was correct, that is what they treat. Our problem is the doctor's don't know enough
Most of the medications prescribed to us has already been proven medically that the drugs dont work for our conditions. 😏.
The more drugs they give us for the pain the more other complications we can get. I was told to take ibroprophen, told the dr no because its proven that there is a risk of stomach ulcers if taken for long periods of time.
Advil or what we call ibroprophen in the uk. What myfibroteam hasnt told non of you is that this drug can also cause stomach ulcers and it should also be taken, if taken with another pill egich protects your stomach.
When drs advise me to take this i reply with a swift no ta, it doesnt work and just like all the rest of the medications from the pharmaceutical industry they only work for a while, as your body gets used to them. Plus they are only dealing with your symptoms not the actual problem. Why? Because they dont know how to treat many diseases so they try help the symptoms instead which if your like me i was on 22 tablets a day. 22. I stopped all of them 3 years ago. Im on nothing now and just suffer with what i have. Id rather suffer with what i have then have to deal with something else that has been caused by taking meds. Sometimes some articles really annoy me to say the least.
I'm on Narcotics because on top of fibro I have a back that has 9 crushed disks...car accident survivor, Now I understand your fear of addiction but when you have pain narcotics are like white noise to help remove the pain, I was on Medical Marijuana and it works but sadly it's not covered by OW - on my way to ODSP. I can't work I tried.
