Does Anyone Else Notice A Major Change In Their Nails?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
London, UK

I have noticed that since having fibro that my once strong straight nails are now twisted, weak and sometimes grow like a ducks bill,I mentioned in a forma question that I can't stand my nails painted any more, I also can't let them grow long as they start to hurt. Does any one else suffer this way?

Yes but now I take a pill you can get it from any store and at Costco it's called skin, hair, nails, it has started to make a difference in my hair instead of thinning it's getting thicker again.

Not my nails, which seem to be fine, but my nail beds. My nails do have ridges that rum from side to side, but reading an article years ago, apparently that is one of the bodies indicators of long term ill health. The ridges are from when you are sick and the body has had to fight it off, so now with fibro, I have those permanently. Back to the nail beds though, mine get really pale. To the point that the moon isn't visible as the entire bed is the same colour. I can still file, paint, and buff though without pain, I just don't due to fatigue and depression which, as we have all experienced, makes self care go down the toilet. xx

I also used to have lovely strong nails but due to the meds they are now soft and flaky , they were my joy but now they are horrid looking.

My nails hurt if long always have done, I also asked about nails earlier as I get red lines running down them and wondered if anyone else does. The NHS website has a section for nails abnormalities, unfortunately the reasons given for mine don't help
