A question for those of you who are on or have tried Gabapentin-
Do the side effects go away
I just started 6 weeks ago and am only on 200mg a day but I feel like I'm going insane
I am constantly tired and it has made the fatigue a million times worse. My mouth is so dry and my brain is doing crazy things. I can't focus and my moods are all over the show and I think it's making me depressed.
Will these symptoms go away?
It hasn't helped the fibro and my Dr of course said I can… read more

So here's the thing there are two drugs that do the same thing only there are peoe who react badly to one but not the other and vice versa ... For example:
I was put on pregabalin 200mg three times a day and I swear I wasn't on the planet I wanted to itch my skin off pill my hair out scream at people for not listening to me always on the toilet forgetting everything .. Etc it was a disaster.. So anyway husband calls Dr says that he thinks I've gone insane since taking the new tablets, but instead of sending men in white coats he sends a prescription for gabapentine and says to swap the tablets right away same dose ... Which hubby did, I swear to you no lies within s few days I was back to normal, and better yet id noticed a drop in pain too ...

So my advice to you Bethany is to ask your Dr to swap your gabapentine for pregabalin and see how you get along on that because it sounds like you're reacting to gabapentine on s really bad way x

I am on gabapentin and it truly helps me. My only side effect was the drowsy stage, whichsubsided after a month or two. They say you need to be on meds for a few weeks before it really starts doing what if should. Good luck and try to hang in there!

I had exactly the same reaction to gabapentin on 100mg dose. I works on my pain but felt very negative, spoke negative, and couldn't remember friends names, crazy numb brain, dry mouth etc I have found it hard to tolerate all the chemical meds I have tried. Seeing a good herbalist next week to offer treatment for spasms which for me kicks off the pain cycle... hope to get some results..

200mg is a very low dose...it shouldn't cause this many side effects. talk to your doc as soon as you can, it really sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to it.
