Do You Still Send Christmas Cards

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm in my 50's and still send Christmas cards. It took me a day and a half this year because I've been feeling really bad. I do write in most of them, I take a family picture with my husband and 2 grown kids, have copies made to put in each card. I also write Christmas 2016 on the backs of each one (I sent about 40 cards) I've done this for years and always enjoyed it, but this year it felt more like a chore 😟

I still send out cards but I have limited to who I send them to. Usually my family and friends out of town.
I still enjoy it also. God is my inspiration and keeps me going each day.

I usually start sending my Christmas out after Thanksgiving day .This year had not sent any but 1 for mom and mom-in-law! I feel kind of funny not sending any this year.

I haven't sent Christmas cards for the past three years. I've let people know through social media that I won't be sending cards but that I wish every one a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous 2017. I email seasons greetings to those who are on their computer a lot. When people ask why I've stopped sending cards I explain about fibro. Most people are very considerate and understanding. Many say that they're not sending cards this year because of the cost involved.

I do still try to do them. I have to break it down into bite sized piles because writers cramp, brain fog, and pure exhaustion from focusing on each one takes its toll. I write a personal message to each recipient, not just sign the bottom, otherwise it is not from me...it's just a piece of paper with my signature on it. I did find though, among the cards I had left over from last year, a small stack that I had written and apparently forgot to send. What a plonker!!!! Only my close family get cards I have picked out, I find I have resorted to packs of cards that are linked to a charity for the rest, as, again, I don't have the energy. xx

I have sent out Christmas cards every year for 20+ years. This year I asked my husband if he will help address the envelopes. He said he could print out address labels on the computer. I told him hand written address' are just more personable but however he wants to help. I send out about 30 cards. I always try to write a personalized message in each card. My husband suggested writing one message and he will copy and print them. Then I can enclose them in the cards. I also thought of getting our name made on a stamp and use red ink to stamp our names in each card. I will get them out this year, they just might be a little different. The Tradition will continue :) My hands/fingers/fingernails hurt, throb, shoot lightning pain down my fingers. My wrists hurt and shoot lightning pains. My pain specialist said it sounds like carpal tunnel. My rheumatologist said it could be neuropathy. I have an appointment with a neurologist later in the month.
