Menopause And Aging With Fibromyalgia

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

After living relatively a normal life with FM for 30 years, my disabling flare-up coincided with menopause. I would like to hear from others that had similar experiences. Life was turned upside down for me by mother nature, genetics, and this elusive illness. Still grappling with the drastic change.

Also, I have been told by my physician that how FM affects aging is relatively unknown. Some studies say it ages the body 10-20 years faster - but that is inconclusive. I also know that the… read more

Also, myofascial pain is by far my worst physical pain. Has been since the beginning for me.

Ive also had fibro for 30+ years and was functioning, though not easy. Once i hit menopause, it has been disabling. Memory loss, inability to concentrate or focus, in addition to exacerbated physical symptoms. I’m a mess now!

I have found information that Fibromyalgia can affect and include an array a of illness. It can include, Sleep Apnea, Heart Valve problems, Neurological problems, such as Peripheral Neuropathy , Gasroparesis. It has to do with the Autonomic and Symphatic Nervous System becoming abnormal. There seems to be a blood test coming soon that diagnose Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia can cause a cluster of problems that is being researched. I would start by researching the Autonomic and Sympthatic systems. Also Brain Fog is linked to those Systems as well. Hope this helps Much love and Stay Blessed. @A MyFibroTeam Member

I have had fibro for 30 years too. I was 35 when i had a hysterectomy that put me in menopause. I also was approved for disability at 35. My fibro symptoms have been bad since i first got it at 21. I was off work for 7 years then went back to work until a kid tripped me accidently. After that i had 2 neck surgeries and fibro went into high gear. I dont think that the menopause made a difference for me. Or the fibro was so bad that the menopause was put on the back burner. Lol. I just take one day at a time and pray that god will get me thru it. Hugs
