Cognitive Behavioral Therepy?
Has anyone tried CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therepy)? If so, have you seen improvement to your life?
Ive not found CBT helpful for fibro symptoms, and since no difinitive cause has been found yet, I guess no definates can be said about any treatment option.
Saying that, Ive never found CBT helpful. However since stress is one of my triggers, I have found managing it in other ways helpful, so if this is the case for you, you may find CBT helpful in managing your symptoms. Even in terms of dealing with depression, strain on relationships and the massive life changes associated with fibro, I could see how CBT could be useful to many people.
I have had CBT on and off for 5 years. I find it really constructive and helpful. It has brought down my anxiety and stress levels which I think in turn helps with Fibromyalgia as stress tends to trigger flares
Cherie, I'm glad it's helped you. I think it seems like it's worth bringing up to my doctor during the next visit.
I've been going once a week for 2 years. I have a very supportive therapist. I've learned a lot about my self. When being diagnosed with fm, she has helped in many ways. How to talk to my husband, kids about how I'm feeling and how life changing this illness is.
