Instant Indigestion
Has anyone ever eaten potato chips or crisps as some may know them and got indigestion instantly as in feeling quite sick?
Never had this before, but it has just happened when I was eating Smiths chicken chips.
I get heartburn and reflux a lot. Funny thing is, chips usually settle it. But, I have discovered that celery does the same job, but better. It's crunchy, so meets that craving, and it has salt in it, but it also has water, and no carbs. The paler stalks taste much better than the dark green ones.
If I'm eating packaged food, including chips, and including brands that I eat all the time, I check the ingredients. Any numbers, I don't eat it. Any preservatives (I've had to look up chemical names I don't know), most colours and flavours, as well as all thickeners and gums (vegetable gum, guar gum, and similar), I can't eat it because it all wreaks havoc with my symptoms, or my digestion, such as it is.
I'm actually suspecting one of my vitamin supplements, as I've been less bloated on days I forget to take them. Problem is finding out which one, because they're not required to list full ingredients, so it'll be elimination, which is a long process, and if it's more than one, I'll have to start trying combinations.
I hope you feel better soon 🌻
I have dealt with almost everything mentioned here for years. Not having a gallbladder means I must watch how much greasy foods I eat because without the gall bladder to store the bile for those greasy food times I only have a steady small stream.
I have learned that when I eat certain foods I do feel better and hurt less. For me my list almost to a tee is found in the book Eat Right For Your Blood Type. Three groups of foods listed - Best, Okay, Never. @A MyFibroTeam Member is right about eating foods that do not trigger our fibro. Those list articles have been helpful to me also.
Another thing I discovered in the last year is that by getting the yeast in my system under control I feel better. I take probiotics daily. I was very skeptical at the beginning but yes they do make a huge difference.
I hope this helps everyone. Our pain and discomfort does reach into every area of our bodies. Trial and error is not fun either. Hope you all had a good day.
There’s a product I use called balance and it helps with all my tummy issues! Including IBS and it’s all natural!
Our body chemistry changes so foods/drinks you used to be able to eat/drink may no longer be tolerable. It come down to have to monitor every you do. Keep a diary of everything, and I do mean everything, you eat, drink, activities etc and record any effects be it nausea, pain, etc. It goes a long way in helpin you control your condition
As for the question about chips and indigestion. Before bypass surgery had a great deal of indigestion but since then have other issues. Thank you for your info just another issue with FB!
Do you ever wonder what else we don't know about this disease? Prayers and hugs
