Has Your Doctor Prescribed Vitamin D? I Was Researching Vitamin D For A Friend And Discovered It Is Used For Fibromyalgia!

I wonder if Vitamin D deficiency is one of the reasons for fibromyalgia causing widespread pain, especially to patients in the Midwest where we don't have a lot of sunshine in the winter months. Exposure to sun is one of the recommendations for pain relief.

I have been researching this vitamin for a friend of mine who has terrible arthritis pain. Arthritis pain is widespread like Fibromyalgia, however, luckily Fibromyalgia does not cause deforming in hands and feet which arthritis causes… read more

Before I was taking Vit D I was waking up feeling unrefreshed , and exhausted every moment of the day, all the main fatigue symptoms of Fibro. Once I got my Vit D to a good level (I was VERY deficient) ALL of my fatigue symptoms went away. It felt like a miracle. I actually go through my days now without being in a fatigued state. And with my Tizanidine to help me sleep I take NO naps during the day anymore!! It’s crazy!! I still experience the other symptoms of fibromyalgia like pain but I feel so much better now my Vit D is at a stable level. I suggest anyone with fibro get all there vitamin levels checked out. It’s been amazing to actually feel the energy I thought I lost forever.

I have trouble with Vit D deficancy. I took 50,000 units of D3 once a week for a month. Levels came up and went on 1000. I was terribly tired. I would come home from work and fall asleep. My legs hurt. I had no problems after that. This July the first set of tests the rheumatologist ran showed i was deficant again. I did another go of 50,000units. It is back up to 34---bottom of the range is 30. Rheumatologist said that was good. I've read where it should be higher. She has me on 2000 once a day. Problem with Vit D is it's fat soluble. If you are over weight your extra body weight tends to absorb it. It doesn't do what it is suppos to do. That is what my doctor said. I know they recommend you take it with the fatest meal of the day.
