My best friend has this. Poor thing says there are no known treatments, just to listen to annoying pitches so your humming gets less noticeable. Sending prayers and hugs

It truly is enough some days to drive one batty. At least with the insect sound, I dont get up and walk around listening to all of my appliances to see which one of them is making noise. (I tend to do that when it is a humming noise, which can sound like the motor in the refrigerator.)

It really IS all in your head, L○L...it has nothing to do with your ears...it has to do with your brain. That's why I was asking since Fibromyalgia is a neurogenic disorder. The CNS starts with the brain. I have had bad tinnitus for 4 years. Ringing. A humming sound. Bug zapper sounds. Now it is like hearing cicadas 24/7 and I know they are not out there in February rubbing their wings and legs... but I can hear them as I type this message out. I guess it could be worse...it could be crickets I hear. I found that some medications (anti-anxiety) I was on made it worse too.

Mine has gotten so much worse that I have now mentioned it to my pcp and he said if at any point it gets worse he can refer me to Ear Nose and Throat and even to the Audiologist. He said that sometimes they perscribe hearing aids to help with white noise.

Yes, all of the time, though sometimes very loud. Loud right now as I type. Seems worse when I take certain meds including CBD. Sometimes I wake up in the night and it is extremely loud until I get up for a minute or two. There was a time it bothered me but now I don’t really care. Sometimes it makes it a bit hard to hear people when they are talking to me. I guess because I am getting old, 63, a lot of things don’t bother me anymore.
