I’m 47 And Wondering If I Should Get The Shingles Shot?
I have high sensitivities and almost all symptoms ever listed for fibromyalgia. So I’m fearful I’m going to get shingles, but yet know getting the shot could be hard too. Do any of you have experience with this?
I have had shingles 3 times in my 61 years. I got the immunization for it, and didn't really have any bad effects!
I got mine last year. I got shingles at 35 after I had surgery. There been 2 more shingle outbreaks since but I’ve not had outbreak in like 5 years. Now I just get this chronic pain which is what I thought was pns like having shingles without an eruption. Lol now I know it’s fibromyalgia.
Hugs
Yes get it. I had Shingles at age 49 and again at age 59.
First, have you had chickenpox? If so, then you already have the varicella-zoster virus in your system. It's the same one that causes chickenpox. Some excerpts from an article I linked below.
Shingles are most commonly seen in people over the age of 50 years. However, the virus may reappear in people of all ages who have previously had chickenpox. It is not possible to have shingles if you have never been exposed to chickenpox or the varicella virus that causes it. Shingles is a painful infection of the nerve supplying areas of skin and is accompanied by a localized skin rash.
