Does The Pain Injections Help

I have been having shots for about 12 years. For me the effect is cumulative . The more treatments I have, the better the results. I think it depends on the treatment as well. I had trigger point injections years ago, which helped with the pain and loss of range of motion in my shoulders. I don't know anyone who does it where I live anymore. As I had posted previoudly, I am in a small group of fibro and MS patients that receive a new treatment that consists of an iv with a high dose of torodol and anesetic similar to when you are having minor awake surgery. It takes about 45 minutes and makes you a little high, but it seems to trick the brain into not receiving our screwed up pain signals. It works for about 4 weeks for me and I am very functional during this time compared to what I was previously. I have been doing these for about a year and although I still have days of fibro fog and still fight the fatigue, I do feel alot better.I do not know if this is available in the US,as I live in Canada, but it might be worth checking out if a local pain clinic offers it, If anyone's doctor is interested about this proceedure, I will pass on their info to my Doctor and see if he is willing to share his method.

I have rhizotomies, which is where they burn the nerve endings. I have had it done in several areas up and down my back. There is pain right after they are done, but then I get 3 to 4 months of back pain relief. I have also had several ketamine infusions which has given me almost 8 months of relief. I still have some bad days but it around a 6-7/10 on the pain scale as compared to always being at a 12 on the pain scale. The ketamine infusions are a newer treatment for chronic pain. I am very lucky my pain management doctor does them. I have also had anti-inflammatory injections that do very little for me. Hope that helps.

Hi Tracey, I've had trigger shots on my hips and that lasted about 2-3 years. It helped temporarily. I had cortisone shots, both on my hands and ankles. It helped for a bit, but the pain is back. I also had B-12 shots on my hands and back, however, that didn't do much. I hope you are able to find a treatment that lasts and helps you! Hugs!

On the month that I do not get the fibro infusion, i get a spinal epidural to treat old back injury. I am finding it is harder to get (scar tissue) and doesn't last as long.
