They told me that I don't have PMR because that is only supposed to last a few months and get better with prednisone but it has gotten much worse so they now think it is fibro.i think I have had this for at least 4 years. It just started affecting all muscles in all of body.

I am new to this group but I think all my problems started with a statin drug.My legs started getting spasms and pain and someone told me it was from the statin drugs so I went off them and refused anymore statin drugs.I started seeing specialists 2 years ago and they finally diagnosed me with fibro in Nov last year.Prior to that they had put me on prednisone because they thought it was PMR. Now I am trying to ween off that and they put me on Cymbalta and its not working.I am trying to be patient but some days are really bad.I am hoping to get some answers and understanding from all of yoou.

My cholesterol has always been high but I refuse to use statins. They have way too many side effects. I think my cholesterol is hereditary and it doesn't really go any higher. It has stayed close to the same for 20 years. In not saying not to take them. That's a personal choice. If mine kept rising, I would probably try them. Good luck. I've eaten oatmeal everyday for 2 years and it still doesn't budge.

Did the Rheumotologist do blood work to check for inflammatory markers and your sedimentation rate?
Polymyalgia Rheumatica lasts a long time, usually 1-5years or more, if you don’t go into remission. I don’t understand how they can tell you you have it and then you don’t.
I’m so sorry for what you’re going through...yes, Fibromyalgia affecteds all the muscles in our body. Whereas PMR affects the large muscle groups like your shoulders, hips, spine, knees.
