Anti-Depressants Yay Or Neigh?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had Fibro for over a year now, but only been recently diagnosed (it's stupid how long it takes to get here).

I get to speak with a gentleman who is going to talk me through the methods and medication I can try to get back to normal-ish again semi soon.

I've heard a lot of scary and bad stories of people who have been on anti-depressants and needless to say the idea of being on them kind of scare me. I'm a bit of a wuss to be honest lol I'm quite an anxious person when it comes to trying a… read more

I was prescribed these before but about 2 years ago I finally got off all my medications that had been prescribed to me for my Fibromyalgia! I do use some specific essential oils now for anxiety and panic and mood and find they work just as well if not better for me! I am glad to be able to treat naturally 😊

When I was first diagnosed, I tried Cymbalta (duloxetine). At first, I thought it worked because I didn't hurt as bad--I didn't feel human, but I was still able to work my normal 45 hour weeks. Some time went by and the pain was only increasing so my dose was doubled. I couldn't stop shaking and I began to have spasms bad enough they wracked my body. That among other things caused me to stop taking them. Turns out, my grandmother is allergic to antidepressants and sounds like I may be too. I think it more boils down to what works for you to help with your pain. My doctor kept telling me that I was just adjusting and just give it another week--when I should have been listening to my own body. I don't regret it because now I can make a more informed decision in the future so don't let healing and coping scare you. It might not work the best for you or it could provide massive relief but you won't know until you try it. Best wishes to you! :) <3

I have been taking Prozac for many years and it has been a great drug for me..I also take CBD oil and the CBD enhances the effect of the Prozac. A little bonus there. Prozac is a good one to start with as it does not have as many side effects. It made me really sleepy for about 2 weeks.. keep in mind that how medications affect you may be different.. some drugs do. have interactions with CBD. You can Google to find out which is what I did...

I'm on prozac and it was the best decision I made. Stops me getting too low when pain is at its worst.

Oh wow Melissha, your daughter sounds amazing! What a way to help a community. :) Send her my best. And Laurie, I found it at a local vape shop. I'm in Idaho so marijuana is still illegal but CBD is legal in all 50 states now.
