Itching + Lidocaine
It is annoying and I've discovered that Lidocaine relieves it and I've assumed that the itching is fibro acting up again. The itching stops several minutes after applying it. I use 5mg Lidocaine at my doctor's urging which also relieves pain close to the skin.
Thank you for all the comments given. Usually the steroid injections work. However last time it did not 😔. I can take the pain from the injection if I know it is going to help, but that was a real let down .
@A MyFibroTeam Member I was diagnosed with dequervois tenditinitis (Spelling is off sorry). It causes bad pain in the thumb and tendon right below it. I have gotten steroid injections in that area (super painful), but they help me for like six months and then do it again. I also get horrible wrist pain from carpal tunnel and get steroid injections in that area though they have to use an ultrasound machine to do it. Super painful, but again it helps for a long time. Gentle Hugs.
Hey, I have pain in my left thumb area, too. I find it hard to grip or squeeze with that hand. My lower thumb area is also swollen. I assume it's arthritis, but it's getting worse. At least I'm also right handed, but my job has me squeezing people's hands to fill a tube of blood. And I hold their hand with my right hand, and squeeze with my left hand. I've thought about trying to use the other hand, but that seems like it will be hard for me to switch.
I take phernergan tablets for itching
At night also use a icepack
I have a lot of nerve pain in my legs and I use 5% lidocaine ointment and it settles everything down it is the best. If it helps stop itching that's a good thing too just hadn't been itching. Also the cream I use if you do have dry or itchy skin is the Aveeno for dry skin no fragrances best cream you'll ever use use it every day out of the shower keep the skin good hope this helps. 🌞
