Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member
I was considered as having peri menopause for a good 2+ years before my diagnosis of FM. I tried 6 months of HRT as a last resort about 18 mths ago.
It helped a bit with the emotions and turned the dial down some on the hot flushes and perspiration. But it didn’t take it all away. Coming up to the 6 months review my doc said she wanted an internal pelvic examination, mammogram and blood work done before she would renew my script for more HRT. I was turning over every rock in an effort to find relief from my symptoms in order to keep my job. When the searching was no longer necessary as I was paid out to leave I stopped taking the HRT.
The doc was not in favour of them to start with but could see my desperation.
I think now in hindsight that it didn’t make a lot of difference and that most of what I was feeling was that my menopause symptoms along with FM were all dialed up to 11 due to stress. November is 12 months since I left work, stopped taking HRT and have not had menses.
Admittedly it is winter her but I don’t get the hot flushes and mood swings as I did back then. Tomorrow is a week since I started taking CBD oil. My pain is down, my fibro fog is not as thick and when I do sleep I wake rested.
I’m not better, but I’m cautiously optimistic. Only trouble is a headache that just want move out! I’ve served an eviction notice, tried killing it with heat pack, drowning it in water and OTC pills. Only thing that takes the edge off is my Chinese spray. No idea what’s in it. Friends tell me it’s all natural. Bought it for me when I broke my toe while in Shanghai well before my FM diagnosis. I bought 5 boxes home with me it’s MAGIC stuff.
Sorry where was 8 going with all this... oh right HRT. Didn’t see a difference and certainly not enough to just he pain and incredible discomfort I was going to endure to keep taking it, least of all the terrifying thought of it stimulating cancer. FM isn’t going to kill me, while some days I feel I might do it myself, I’ve lost too many loved ones to the big C to put myself down that path and inflict that kind of trauma and misery on my loved ones.

Hope this helps you make a decision.
Sending you feel good vibes for low pain days ahead

My mother had full hysterectomy in her 40s. She didn’t receive hormone replacement, she had no issues adjusting. HRT might help you with your overall well-being feeling but not sure how it could effect pain sensation which is more of a central nervous system related issue in case of fibromyalgia sufferers.
