Has Anyone Tried Opioids? Do They Help?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know there are articles explaining opioids narcotics don’t work on fibro sufferers. Is this true? Has anyone had relief using them? Which ones ? Or just in general if don’t want to say.

Thanks for answers. Fibro hugs to you all. Take care.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I’m so sorry your pain medication was taken away.

I also have been prescribed opiates, they definitely help me. I don’t take them a lot, but when I need them they really help. I’ve never been addicted to them and it’s a shame that drug addicts have ruined it for people that really need them. I was recently admitted in the hospital with a very painful blood clot in my abdomen. My nurse wouldn’t give me anything for pain, she said because of the opioid crises ......😳 really. I was in enough pain to go to the hospital, they found a huge blood clot that they said was very painful.....but wouldn’t give me anything for pain. They finally gave me a Vicodin about 12 hours later, my pain was way past what a Vicodin could do and they said they would only give me 1 every 12 hours. I’m 62 years old, was horrible pain And all you can do is tell me about the opioid crises 😡 So many people have had their pain pills taken away, some weren’t even weaned from them. How many people in pain have to die before they figure out taking pain pills from people that really need them. Some of these people are Are going to the streets to get their drugs (which is dangerous and some have died because it was laced with Fentanyl) and others have taken their own life because they couldn’t take the pain anymore 😢

Here are a few stories of how taking pain medication away from people that need it, is not a good idea.

@A MyFibroTeam Member from what I understand they are looking to see if you have other illicit drugs in your system and if the narcotic is in the urine...if there is not they may assume you are not taking your prescription and selling or giving away your pain pills.

I take Nucynta which is one of the newer opiods. It really works well for me but I think that is because I take it only when I have a really bad flare..
