Hi all

I've only ever been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by my GP. I started walking as part of a diet every day for an hour last January (2020). I walk approximately 6km every day but a year on I get pains in my lower back, my legs and the outer edge of my ribs, all up my sides. I have started getting very painful fingers and stiffness. My bloods showed no inflammatory markers so my GP is talking about sending me to a rheumatologist. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Surely a year on… read more

If you live in the UK ect and go through the NHS it has to go through a process of elimination before you can get a referral to a pain managevent clinic and then if you are accepted you go on a waiting list which can take 3-6 months and that was before covid pandemic hit to put all treatments ect back down the line. I was due to see a consultant last March 2020 to be put on for pain management my appt was March 31st 2020 which got canceled and haven't seen anyone or hado another rescheduled appt since I'm afraid.

You need a Pain Management doctor. An x-ray can show fibromyalgia. Get a new GP. If your doctor doesn't answer your problems fire him. Weight is not a factor in fibromyalgia. After your medications are regulated then you work on that. This is a process to excellence. If you are in NJ I can tell you great doctors and they can recommend ones where you are.

If it is definnately fibromyalgia then more than likely yes it will but with seeing a rheumatologist and a neurologist it goes through a process of elimination to determine if it is definately fibromyalgia

Sadly my walking has gotten worse over time resulting in me using a walking stick. I come out of my front door feeling OK but as soon as I start walking down my street my steps become slower and slower more painful with every step in my back upper to lower my thighs all around them really hurt and feel like they have a tight band of something around them which then goes into my thighs knees ankles and feet and my legs become very weak feeling like they are going to buckle or seize up. I do walk most days if I can to avoid seizing up altogether but have to for everything anyway as do not drive. My shopping is a mammoth task even pulling a trolley with one hand and stick to help me and steady me with the other but feel like I'm walking all over the place as if drunk lol which wouldn't be as I don't drink!!..
