I forgot. You will need someone to drive you the day of surgery & the day after. Ask doctor when you can safely resume driving yourself. Might need some help if dog pulls you a lot when walking.

Yes, Rosemarie, your response is awesome! I had cateract surgery in both eyes in 2019 with no problems or side effects. Your answer is what i wish i'd read about before the surgery because it's comprehensive and conveys peace of mind.

Tigger3, hope you're on the way to doing what you need.

Blessings

Not a problem. Just make sure you have an experienced surgical ophthalmologist who routinely does cataract surgery. You will have drops to use before & after. And possibly some restrictions after surgery, like not bending down or lifting anything heavy. Find out if the doctor will use laser or surgically remove the cataract. Find out what kind of lens he will be implanting & why. Medicare only covers one type which will correct your near vision immediately. Or for an additional fee (not covered by insurance) you can get far vision corrected instead. Or both with another type lens.
Not all eyes are suited to the more specialized lenses so consider the surgeon's recommendation seriously. It is best not to delay the surgery for too long for a better result & to avoid any problem. Surgery is done as an outpatient. Your eye will be patched overnight. The next day you will go back to the doctor. Patch removed & doctor will check the eye. May have to patch your eye overnight for 2-4 weeks to prevent poking your eye while asleep. You will see an immediate improvement in your vision. Don't worry or be afraid & don't delay. Good luck!
