Fibromyalgia And Infectious Disease

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Fanwood, NJ

Would an Infectious disease be able to cause or mimic the symptoms of fibromyalgia? Our father came up to our room saying it might not be fibromyalgia... But this is terrifying us to no end. Not knowing what is wrong with your body is so much worse than actually knowing!!! 😭

Your father is in denial which occurred with mine too. It would be easier if we could point the cause of the disease and a cure or a pretty decent treatment that let us have more freedom.

I end up just ignoring what my parents were saying and, if needed, I would argue with them, since I thought I was already suffering enough and didn't need them against me.

Yes! My doctors have done over 150 types of labs test for autoimmune diseases. Liver diseases, they won't even suggest to us getting tests for our urinary Incontinence. And our father said that we just need to go to our PCP to ask if it's even worth it! His jobs is from 9-5 and we don't have a car anymore because of some idiot making a turn into the exit of a McDonald's with no turn signal!

Hi Marcybug, have your docs run all the tests to rule out other things? My doc ran a ton of tests to rule out infections, autoimmune and other conditions that mimic fibro before diagnosing me.

My dad is still pretty abusive, and it was me, as a child who told mom his behaviour was wrong – I was a little Matilda, mom says. But mom didn't get it at the time, so we had lots of discussions since then, however, now, she recognizes my dad's abusive behaviour, and how much it affected everyone, and my dad is starting to see it too, but his "recovery" is a very loooong journey. He still uses me as his punching bag sometimes – but not with his fists anymore.

Sorry, I am/was a teacher, so using examples is like a rule to me. LOL It can get better, Marcy. But it's not easy.

I was thinking about the movie "Perfect Days".
