Are You Frustrated With Finding Effective Treatments For Fibromyalgia?
The issue of patients who are truly in pain has now come before the DEA. They realize thy have gone overboard on regulations on doctors by not being able to prescribe pain meds for legitimate reasons. The has caused ordinary American citizens who to live in pain due to a myriad of regulations. You have to see a pain management specialist. Then one who specializes in your type of pain.
Just writing this, I am tearing out my hair. I gave gout. Talk about pain, but neither podiatrist or rheumatologist will prescribe anything for pain when I have a flare.
I suggest calling your US representatives & senators to urge them to work with DEA to deregulate these burdensome regulations. The phone number for the US capitol is (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators). Ask to be connected to your Senator or Rep by name. Or follow the prompts, but usually an operator answers. Or you can call their local offices by phone or email. If ALL of us call, we may get some results w/o having to wait in pain indefinitely.

Yes, calling politicians may help. The other day, I was thinking Fibro patients, and others with chronic pain, should Peacefully march in protest, to at least make people aware. But, how many would be physically able?
Yes, I'll call my Reps, but, a handful won't do it. We Need Everyone to contact their Reps, in Their home state.
If someone can post on here, or make a call...they can actively make a request from their Representatives.
If they don't make an effort, they shouldn't complain about nothing being done to help us.
*govtrack.org lists Current Reps for each state.
Our autoimmune condition causes inflammation and unfortunately gives mixed messages to the brain.
Our nerve endings can be damaged and on high alert.
Over exercising and touch can exacerbate the pain.
My consultant is actually very experienced in pain management and deals alot with stroke where they also experience alot of pain.
I was advised to only do 20 minutes of activity and rest for 40 minutes to allow the muscles to recover. This is per hour and I appreciate our lives are busy so this can't always be done.
Gentle stretches daily can really help and stretch throughout the day where possible. This can be done whilst sitting in a chair.
Also a good varied healthy diet helps. Having a little of what you love doesn't hurt and stops the body craving it.
Caffeine is not our friend and can cause lots more pain to the body.
Your GP should refer you to the IPASS team and to the pain clinic team.
Please don't just give up like most. They have been researching this condition for years and are linking it more to similar conditions.
Please DO NOT allow anyone to brush this off as something simple...it most definitely isn't. This is a debilitating disorder that affects us severely.

Yes. Totally frustrating. I have taken matters into my own hands. I take a fistful of supplements, celebrex, physical therapy, mental health therapy, and plenty of sleep (9-10 hours). I have stopped drinking all alcohol and changed my diet to mirror the Mediterranean diet. Its ALOT!!!!
