How Do You Manage With Getting Your Haircut /Styled At Hairdressers With Your Fibromyalgia Symptoms?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

-for me it would be tricky especially when sitting is difficult, noise levels from dryers etc and needing to move very frequently plus having your neck right back in a sink when having your hair washed?
Is there such a thing as hairdressers that specialise in adapting to disabilities?

I pray so. πŸ™πŸΌ

A hairdresser comes to the house and I'm in my wheelchair,, which reclines. She takes off the headrest and has a special piece of equipment that funnels water into the kitchen sink while she washes .my hair. She also cuts it.

My hairdresser knows of my conditions. If I'm able to make my appt, I wash my hair at home, usually I only get trims or haircuts. πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈ At times, I've had to cancel appts.

Mornin' KT2 !! I keep my hair short, and she works to cut it so it covers my bald spots!!πŸ€ͺThe shop is less than a mile away. She is always on time. She washes my hair, cuts it, and I am home in less than an hour!! On Mondays she is the only one is the shop, so I have no problem with noise or smells as she's good about that for me!! I'm REALLY lucky!!!!!!!

I go to one of those in and out kinds of places where you arrive with clean hair, they spray water on your hair, then cut. After the cut you can decline product and drying. When I had a longer, layered bob I learned on YouTube how to diy my haircuts.
I hope you find a solution that works for you!

My hairdresser is my neice. She does house calls so I am able to wash my hair before she arrives. It is very short and thin now so doesn't take long to cut and dry. She knows not to have the hairdryer on hot for me. So this suits me best.
