Anyone Else Get Jaw Pain When Chewing
I get jaw pain when chewing that radiates into my ear
It sounds like TMJ pain which is Temporomandibular joint pain. That’s the joint where the jaw bone hitches into your skull. It’s a loose joint with only muscles holding it in place. It can be a horrible pain, sharp and stabbing, or dull and throbbing, and just about any other type of pain that you can imagine! Pain when chewing is such a hard thing to overcome. We have to eat but when you’re having pain it’s best to be gentle with yourself, have a smoothie or soup, anything that you can manage. A heating pad or wheat bad will make the joint feel better along with all the other muscles affected, your face, side of your head, neck, and shoulders. I would also recommend a hot shower or bath to help those muscles relax. They may spasm when coming out of the locked position but that’s a good thing! Stay warm!
It sounds like TMJ, I've had it since I was 10 yrs old. It can cause radiating pain into the ear, head, and face.
Heat, and/or Gentle massage may help. Avoid chewing hard, or very chewy foods, gum, and opening mouth too wide, take smaller bites.
