How Does Everyone Hold A Job With Fibro?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been off work for surgery in 4 spots for stage 2 cancer. Both side of my groin as well as my ankle and hip. Thank God they got it all but my fibro pain sense surgery has been awful. My back which is my usual biggest fibro pain flared up so bad, bones, muscle and skin it is worse than the surgery spots. My surgery spots are healing great but my fibro pain is still awful. I need to go back to work but don't know how I can when I have so much pain. I take gabapentin and over counter meds… read more

Blue3, from what I have heard fibro is now a recognized condition but super hard to get disability. Those who decide do not understand how completely it destroys who we were and the amount of pain we are in. I pray that changes but not holding my breath. Good luck on your journey.

It's been over 5 years sense my diagnosis but sense I didn't have insurance I have few medical records and the ones I have are with my family dr, no specialist. I worked my whole life at gas stations. 11 years at one and 13 years at another. Then came fibro, the last 10 years with fibro I went through 6 jobs trying to find something I can still do. The last 2 years I was doing home care which was working as I could adjust my hours around my fibro. Now my pain just won't let up. While I have Medicare I am catching up some of the stuff I have skipped but I can't afford to stay off much longer. I am going to look into the work from home more to see if I can find something. Have to work on my typing skills and get a working computer but think that's my best hope. I'm not gonna even try for disability because I've heard so many stories like yours, eight denials is ridiculous, I'm so sorry you started with this horrible disease so young and will pray you find help. Atleast you are in the desert, cold damp is not helping my pain. If possible can you see a different dr? Yours sounds terrible. Mine hasnt been able to fix me but she is very compassionate and tries. Im almost 57 so gonna try and get in 10 more years so I can retire without a fight. I hope you have a pain free day!

May I ask what plants you find helpful? I am very interested but don't know where to start, I get so distracted and forgetful now I start looking for something and end up somewhere off base.

@A MyFibroTeam Member that's why I learned what plants are used to make the pharms I can use or replace with. Then learned how to farm my self, great physical and mental therapy.
One day I won't need a dr anymore unless I need surgery or an accident.

When I see you talking about not even expecting any government help I feel so empty... What do we need to do to prove our disease? Screaming 24/7 would be enough?
